The institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry is part of the faculty of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Earth Sciences at the Albert Ludwigs university of Freiburg. The main research interest of our group is the proton pumping NADH:Ubiquinone oxidoreductase, the so called complex I from bacteria.

Our group is part of the graduate school "Spemann Graduate School of Biology and Medicine (SGBM) (former MOBILMED)" [->movie about SGBM] and is funded by the Volkswagen Stiftung in the context of the funding initiative "Interplay between Molecular Conformations and Biological Function".

The working group is part of the international research training group  "Membrane Proteins and Biological Membranes" of the DFG and taking part in the correspondent PhD-college of the german-french university as well.
